pH stands for potential of hydrogen ion concentration. pH scale goes from 0.00 which is completely acid to 14.00 which is completely alkaline. Distilled water has a pH of 7. Blood should have a pH of 7.35-7.45. If blood goes out of this range we would not be able to survive very long. In our office the main pH we test the saliva pH. According to Dr. Morter the optimum pH of the saliva is 6.8 and then after it is stressed by a high acid food such as a chewable vitamin C and then cleared from the mouth pH should be 8.0. Anything out of that is considered non optimum. Urine pH should be between 5.5 and 5.8 if the person's alkaline reserve is adequate. The saliva pH can change more to emotional stresses whereas the urine pH will change more from the foods that we have recently eaten. It is important to maintain optimum pH in order to maintain optimum health. If the pH is not correct then the normal body function will be stressed and unable to perform at their full potential. Here at Geipel Chiropractic as a Morter Health Systems doctor we can advise you about the foods to eat to improve your diet, your body's pH, and your health. We can tell you what your pH readings mean and answer your questions about how your eating habits affect the way that you feel and how healthy you are.
